Last week our colleagues Nenad Maljugić, Borislav Jekić, Tisa Komadina, and Rajko Bačić spoke at the webinar “Tech leadership: Tips & Tricks”.
Besides welcoming a lot of new colleagues to our growing organisation, the number of tech and team leads is increasing as well.
For us, continuous growth means that we constantly invest in our colleagues’ technical and people-skills education.
Additionally, we want to share our best practices with others. We know there are many challenges in leadership, and that’s why we want to share with others best practices that have helped us.
What Is the Difference Between a Tech Lead and Team Lead at Emakina.RS?
We invited our colleagues Nenad, Rajko, Borislav (Tech Leads) and Tisa (QA Lead) to share their experiences with everyone at the webinar.
Tisa’s work is not focused on testing and quality assurance, but it covers organisational, coaching, and mentoring tasks. And our tech leads are not just the most skilled engineers on their projects, but they also observe the business side of the project.
Our four speakers said that they wouldn’t be good at what they do if they didn’t focus on developing their people skills.
In other words, the base of a successful team and project is good communication. However, that’s not the only aspect tech and team leads should pay attention to. Additionally, the essential parts of their work are:
- Time management
- Emotional intelligence
What Are Some of the Key Takeaways From This Event?
For all of the developers who are at the crossroad between a software developer and lead role, our colleague Borislav said:
“Although programming is the primary profession in each software development company, there are many other aspects that are equally important for the development of certain projects.”
Besides creating strong bonds with members of your team, Rajko suggests reading. These are some of the books that have answered some of his questions: “Software engineering at Google”, “Managing Humans: Biting and Humorous Tales of a Software Engineering Manager” and “The Manager’s Path”.
If you are interested in learning more tips and tricks from our colleagues, we invite you to listen to the entire webinar.
